As you’ve grown, you have replaced parts of me:
A pacifier for midnight comfort
A bottle for my breast
Your own feet for my arms.
But no matter what, I’ll always be your mom.
You reach for your dad
The cat
A toy
Because I’m always there; I’m your mom.
Your first word wasn’t “mama”
The first sentence was “hi, dad”
You mostly call me when you’re crying
But that’s okay, call your mama.
You get bigger and grow
Every single day
Soon you won’t reach for me at all
But I will always be here; I’m always your mom.
Well that made me cry. Beautiful.

So beautiful! It made me cry, (but not in the bad way). I hope you know that Ivy will always reach for you, her amazing, loving mom. It just will look different as the years go by.

That’s all that I can hope for! Thank you so much for your kind words, from one mom to another. You did an amazing job!
